DescriptionJOB SUMMARYUnder the direct supervision of the Security Director, the position is a licensed Security Officer who provides access control as a core function to ensure the safety and security of the reception area and within and around the administrative building. Excellent customer service is required for this position, with the responsibility to greet and check-in visitors as well as interact daily with the public, employees, client team members, and DUS headquarters (DUS HQ) personnel. This position performs a variety of security related tasks for the client and DUS HQ as reflected below.To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to occasionally deal with potentially uncooperative or intoxicated individuals, and be attentive to the area of responsibility in order to promote the safety of those individuals working within the facility. The ideal candidate is able to coordinate multiple tasks, is detail oriented, and possesses the skillset to manage confrontational people, stressful situations or emergencies with a security mindset. As the first point of contact for visitors and employees, presenting a professional appearance and communicating effectively is essential for this position.This position is the initial representative of DUS and can be viewed as the “face” of the company for anyone ranging from potential new-hire candidates to CEOs of clients and potential clients. As such, there is a requirement that candidate for this position present not only a highly professional image, but also maintain a highly professional demeanor at all times.This is a full-time position with a 50-hour workweek, with the possibility of occasional overtime.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 19 years of age
Valid driver’s license
State of Alaska Security Officer license or able to obtain
CEW (Taser) certified or able to become CEW certified
Pepper spray certified or able to become pepper spray certified
Ability to speak, write, and comprehend the English language, and apply written and verbal policies/procedures.
Ability to interact with the public, assisting, and representing all levels of the client.
Prior experience in a public facing administrative role, and/or customer-centric security related position is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain workplace security within the administrative building reception lobby by controlling access and following safety procedures.
Greet and welcome visitors and employees as they arrive at the office.
Check-in visitors, conduct security screenings, issue and collect visitor badges, maintain visitor logs, and notify the appropriate employee escort.
Answer phones in a professional manner, screening, and forwarding calls as appropriate.
Assist with administrative support tasks such as tracking, compiling statistical data, creating reports from databases and access control badging systems.
Perform inside security related functions as requested by the client and DUS HQ personnel.
Monitor alarm panels and CCTV.
Conduct inside and outside patrols to ensure security of the property, to include parking lots.
Escort confrontational people out of the facility or off the property.
Receive and distribute mail and packages dropped off at the security desk.
Prepare and submit incident reports to the designated client representative.
Participate in safety, security, and workplace violence training and certifications as required.
Other safety and security related duties as assigned.
