Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians).DEPARTMENT: Public TransportationHOURS OF WORK: Shifts vary; Schedule based on seniority: 40 hours per week within Monday - Sunday. (Graveyard shift included).LOCATION: 3701 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. AvenueExample of DutiesThis position works in the bus stop enhancement program providing ground maintenance, preparation and landscaping, sweeping and cleaning debris from bus stops, shoveling snow and chipping ice from bus stops, planting flowers, maintaining lawns and planters at bus stops. Facility maintenance including pressure washing and clearing bus stops and furnishings, installing bus stop furniture including digging holes for embedded furniture and drilling holes for surface mounted furniture, installing and maintaining paver bricks for boarding areas. Minor construction work including, but not limited to constructing planters, cleaning and repairing vandalism, painting and some masonry. This position is labor intensive and requires work to be performed in all weather conditions. Perform other related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and experience in the operation of small hand tools and performing unskilled heavy manual labor.Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at time of hire.Preferences:

OSHA 30 hour Certification

Operating fix blade snow plow.

Computer skills and/or software experience with Microsoft Office programs.

Experienced with installing play ground equipment and installing park furnishings
