Maintenance Technician Needed

Coast Inn at Lake Hood & Alaska Park Airport Parking is recruiting for the position of Hotel Utility. This is a regular, full-time position and is located in Anchorage, AK. This position reports to the Hotel Maintenance Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

The position of Hotel Utility will assist the Hotel Maintenance Manager in identifying and resolving issues found on the property and schedule and perform preventative maintenance by noticing issues before they arise. This candidate must work well in a team and take guidance from our housekeeping department, front desk, and hotel manager as needed. Customer service and a friendly demeanor are a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform repairs and services for interior finishes, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical.

Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.

Ability to move and work throughout the hotel for the duration of shift.

Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.

Must be knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate.

Adheres to and maintains company preventative maintenance procedures and guidelines for guestrooms, equipment, public space, grounds, landscaping, and building envelop, etc.

Accountable for maintaining building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection.

Other duties as assigned by Hotel Maintenance Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 18 years of age

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Skilled trades experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical work, and painting.

A basic understanding of all building related equipment – HVAC and Refrigeration, Kitchen, Laundry, etc.

COMPETENCIES:

Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.

Skill in the use of a variety of skilled-trade tools (including both and electric tools).

Key competencies in project management of work scope, budgets and schedules a must.

Basic language communication and mathematical skills in order to communicate with co-workers, fully comprehend job assignments and perform accurate, simple arithmetic functions.

Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly - written communication through email also required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling.

Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations, including the ability to handle guest objections and disputes to satisfactory results.

Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
