They focus on increasing the value of wild fish through efficient, profitable, and equitable

processes.

Job Overview:

Circle Seafoods purchases and freezes fresh caught salmon from a fishing fleet on site. The

Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all primary processing operations at the

Metlakatla, AK Plant or Barge for the 2025 Summer Salmon Season, with the opportunity to

grow with an emerging innovative Seafood company.

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function

● Planning and scheduling all production activities in advance

● Train, supervise, and coach all production employees. Manage performance issues and

participate in disciplinary actions as necessary.

● Works hands-on with a regular floor presence, supervising by example. Has extensive

experience in all aspects of production including but not limited to, freezing and packing

Salmon.

● Constantly promotes seafood product quality with processing employees.

● Creates efficiencies in costs and operations while providing product to customer

specifications.

● Ensures all seafood is handled and processed in accordance with the highest quality

standards.

● Participates in government inspections and ensures any concerns are addressed

promptly.

● Determine suitable crew requirements, schedule employees, and work with human

resources to meet changing production schedules.

● Directs the production supervisor and leads in the layout and arrangement of work

processes throughout the plant. Being sure all processes are being monitored

consistently for quality, accuracy and efficiency.

● Keep daily production records and maintain consistent written documentation on

employee performance.

● Participate in managers’ meetings and conduct production staff meetings.

● Must be able to send out regular bi daily production updates for fleet, maintenance, and

plant operations.

● Communicates and collaborates with the operations manager and other

managers/supervisors.

● Must have the ability to work well with a professional composure under pressure, 12 or

more hours per day, 7 days per week.

Off Season:

Off season Production Manager responsibilities will include rehiring and interviewing seasonal

production staff, preparing for the upcoming season by evaluating staffing needs, and refining

recruitment strategies to ensure a seamless transition into the busy period. The Product

Manager will also focus on analyzing past performance data to identify areas for improvement

and implement training programs to enhance team skills. Additionally, they will coordinate

maintenance and upgrades of production equipment to ensure optimal efficiency when

operations resume. Engaging with current staff through regular updates and team-building

activities will help maintain motivation and readiness for the next season. Finally, the manager

will collaborate with other departments to align production goals with company objectives,

ensuring a cohesive approach to achieving Circle Seafoods' success.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an

employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

functions. This role involves working on your feet for long hours, both indoors and outdoors.

Physical activities include lifting 50 lbs, bending, standing, and moving throughout the day.

Must be capable of performing repetitive work, standing, bending, twisting, and utilizing your

hands with precision. At times throughout the season, we will be operating and working 7 days a

week, workdays vary Sunday through Saturday. Workdays and shift times will vary with seafood

deliveries and other factors.

● Regular exposure to weather and a plant environment.

● Regular exposure to freezer temperatures.

● Occasional lifting of 50-100 lb. boxes.

● Able to walk stairs.

Required Education & Experience:

● High School Diploma or GED required.

● College education is desirable but not required.

● Candidates should possess ambition and a keen interest in the seafood industry.

● Experience working within a 24-hour, multi-shift, fast paced production operation.

● Minimum 2-4 years of Alaska seafood industry experience.

● Production management experience required.

● Proven ability to coach and motivate employees.

● Experience with online inventory systems desired.

● Proven record in training employees about safety and production.

● Must have good decision-making ability. Strong leadership and motivational skills

needed.

● HACCP experience required.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

● Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.

● Thorough knowledge of the seafood industry, processing rules and regulations.

● Valid Driver's license

● Ability to travel to Alaska and other work locations
