DescriptionUnder close supervision, performs routine quantitative and qualitative observations and sampling of air, soil, water, recyclable materials, and solid and hazardous wastes, or other environmental requirements at assigned site. May also have responsibilities related to asset recycling and disposition and assigned site.
Conducts sampling and/or monitors site conditions for compliance with environmental and other requirements and takes appropriate action to ensure continued compliance
Monitors solid waste such as drums, hazardous materials collections sites and reclamation sites for compliance with requirements
Installs and sets-up instruments and equipment
Coordinates the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements
Tracks and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed
Operates and monitors basic electronic equipment and performs simple preventive maintenance
Maintains a current knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures
May assist or provide training on environmental issues
Participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System
Performs other duties as assigned
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in environmental monitoring, sampling, reporting or asset management and disposal as an Environmental Technician or closely related role
Preferred
High School diploma or GED
Criteria/Conditions
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work will require flexibility in working at both Mine and Mill on projects ranging from administrative projects in the office to assigned field tasks
Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
What We Offer You The estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.00 - $31.00/hour . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
