Visit sahuaritaaz.gov andtucsonaz.gov (https://www.tucsonaz.gov/Home) to learn more.  DescriptionUnder general supervision, supports or performs routine and advanced quantitative/qualitative analyses, such as field sampling, testing and measuring through the testing, calibration and preventative maintenance of conventional, electronic and computerized measuring devices at assigned site. May also have responsibilities related to asset recycling and disposition and assigned site.

Conducts sampling and/or monitors site conditions for compliance with environmental and other requirements and takes appropriate action to ensure continued compliance

Monitors solid waste such as drums, hazardous materials collections sites and reclamation sites for compliance with requirements

Installs and sets-up instruments and equipment

Operates and monitors a wide variety of data gathering equipment, including GPS/GIS units, and performs preventative maintenance

Coordinates the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements

Tracks and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed

Maintains a current knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures

May assist or provide training on environmental issues

Leads or participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System

Performs other duties as required

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience in environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting as an Environmental Technician or closely related role

Preferred

High School diploma or GED

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You The estimated pay range for this role is currently  $26.00 - $36.00/hour . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
