This position is FULL TIME only. Ideal candidates must have at least one year experience at minimum working in a restaurant.
Must have reliable transportation to 7th avenue & Indian School.
The role of the prep cook is one of our entry points into our culinary program. They prep food for both AM breakfast/brunch service & dinner service for our cooks. This is where you will learn to develop basic knife skills, sauce work fundamentals, & butchery of proteins.
A sense of urgency, strong organizational skills, and savvy interpersonal communication is vital when working throughout the day with the team.
We're looking for someone who can among other things
Complete all prep tasks, in order, on the prep list as directed by the Chef & team
Is familiar with safe, efficient, and sanitary food handling and preparation of both raw and cooked materials
Keeps track of ingredients inventory and collaborating with kitchen and management staff to restock supplies
Can multitask effectively to better set themselves and their team up for success
Addresses problems and conflicts in a professional and effective manner with supervised staff, allowing for opportunities of learning and growth, and facilitating such opportunities in a respectful manner.
Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Reports all deficiencies when appropriate, such as equipment problems, need for repair or equipment needed for back of house.
Uses organizational skills to improve the flow of tasks in the kitchen by keeping utensils, tools and prep areas clean, in their proper places and ready to use.
Follows opening and closing procedural checklists
Sweeps and mops prep rooms daily
Sweeps and mops dish area at the end of each shift
Breaks down boxes / throw away trash in the back of the dumpster
