Facilities Technician
Scope of job: The Technician assists with the planned and reactive maintenance throughout the attraction to
ensure the day-to-day operation is running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. The Technician will be responsible for
all aspects of the attraction including the audio visual, lighting, equipment, and machinery.
Essential Functions:
Maintain, repair and troubleshoot all areas of the attraction's equipment and machinery including HVAC,
electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and plumbing systems as well as themed attractions.
Apply hands-on knowledge and experience to tackle problems to sustain minimal downtime of themed
attractions for the maximum guest experience.
Position functions will include: custodial duties, re-lamping & lighting systems, painting and wall repair, tech
equipment, shipping and receiving as well as exhibit setup and takedown. Maintaining and troubleshoot
Audio Visual equipment for both old and new exhibits.
Install and/or replace light bulbs, projector lamps, doors, etc.
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain attraction systems, rides and equipment.
Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments.
Troubleshoot, repair or replace control devices.
Complete “Preventative Maintenance” tasks (Daily, Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Monthly, etc).
Repair and/or paint interior walls, hang pictures; assemble furniture.
Set-up and install data cables as needed; install and repair computer outlets and computer bundles.
Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas clean, organized and in safe
condition.
Corrects or reports any safety or fire hazards.
Able to set-up and operate various hand tools and power equipment.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge of:
Basic carpentry and relevant tools and equipment (cutting wood and building in general).
Basic plumbing and relevant tools and equipment (replacing fixtures, rebuilding flushometers, unclogging
drains, etc).
Basic electrical and relevant tools and equipment (replacing fixtures, replacing ballasts, replacing outlets,
etc).
Basic data and networking systems (troubleshooting and tracing Ethernet lines, patching lines, connecting
lines to switches, running/installing new data lines, etc).
Basic understanding of pumps, impellers and motors.
Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, such as linear actuators, solenoids, etc.
Electronics including AV systems, DMX lighting.
PC hardware and software (troubleshooting, replacement, and installation).
Low voltage wiring (maglocks, proximity sensors, servos, low voltage batteries, etc).
Safety practices and equipment related to work (OSHA regulations and PPE knowledge).
Skilled in:
Using repair materials, equipment and methods according to established industry and safety standards.
Learning and applying proper maintenance procedures and use of equipment and supplies.
Maintaining tools and equipment assigned in clean working order.
Understanding and following written and oral directions.
Completing assignments without immediate supervision.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.
Health & Safety:
Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues, and guests (where appropriate), in line
with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law. Must ensure they follow safe working procedures for all work
activities they undertake and must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained. Where
incidents do occur, must ensure they are reported to their line manager and cooperate with any investigation as
appropriate in accordance with applicable laws.
Education and Experience:
2 years of maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which
comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. 2 years of service industry experience in a
technical/themed environment. Specific experience to include animation, automation, hydraulics, pneumatic,
electrical/electronics, and networks, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience of
maintaining flexibility and the highest level of service in high-pressure and/or stressful situations.
Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task as necessary. Desire to work in fastpaced environments. Self-motivated with previous maintenance experience, ideally hold a professional qualification
in a mechanical or electrical field with experience maintaining a wide range of equipment including rides.
