Seeking a Skilled Furniture Builder & Repair Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Builder / Repair Specialist to join our dynamic event rental team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining high-quality rental furniture and custom event pieces.

You will work closely with our design and operations teams to ensure each piece meets the functional, aesthetic, and safety standards required for weddings, corporate gatherings, and large-scale productions.

Must be able to build custom bars, dining tables, and other specialty event furniture. Portfolio or examples of past work are required.

Key Responsibilities

- Build, assemble, and repair rental furniture using a variety of carpentry tools and techniques.

- Construct custom bars, dining tables, and other specialty event furniture based on design requirements.

- Interpret drawings or conceptual designs for custom fabrication.

- Modify or refurbish existing inventory to meet updated designs or repair damage from use.

- Ensure all pieces meet durability, finish, and safety standards for frequent transport and handling.

- Mix paint and wood stains to match color samples or custom formulas.

- Collaborate with event designers and production staff to bring creative concepts to life.

- Track and report inventory of raw materials, tools, and completed pieces.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.

- Assist with on-site event setup and breakdown, including performing last-minute repairs as needed.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience in carpentry, furniture making, or scenic/set fabrication.

- Proven ability to build custom bars and furniture pieces (examples of work required).

- Ability to accurately mix paint and wood stains to achieve consistent tones and finishes.

- Experience reading and interpreting design plans, sketches, and technical drawings.

- Proficient with woodworking tools, machinery, and safety procedures.

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Capable of lifting and moving heavy furniture and materials.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

- Experience managing support staff is a plus.

- Experience in the event production or furniture rental industry is preferred.

Work Environment

Primarily workshop/warehouse-based, with occasional on-site work at event venues.

Schedule

8-hour shift

Monday to Friday

Weekends as needed
