Job Description - Data Governance Business Analyst

Data Governance Business Analyst will play a key role in shaping the One Data Catalog (ODC) program at SVB. Responsible for enrichment and maintenance of One Data Catalog tool by capturing data catalog, data privacy information, establishing automatic and manual data lineage from SVB systems and applications throughout the organization. This role will support the ODC mission to build a centralized repository of technical and business metadata to enable stakeholders across the organization can find the most relevant and trusted data to propel their business initiatives forward. The Business Analyst will perform metadata acquisitions, scheduling participation from the source systems, and coordinating additional enrichment activities such as tokenization and obfuscation of data. The position requires working experience in the Enterprise data governance initiatives, Collibra or similar Data Governance tool, data warehousing, and data integration skillsets. This position requires close interaction and collaboration with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Enterprise Data Architects, Technical Leads, SVB offshore teams, and other data and application system owners.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as Business Analysts in data management initiatives preferably Enterprise Data Governance
  • 2+ experience in implementing Business Glossaries, and Data Catalog
  • Experience with requirements gathering, creating technical documentation, demonstrating how solutions will work, and performing User Acceptance Testing
  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, and leveraging data to solve business and technical problems
  • Experience with coordinating with multiple business and technical stakeholders to execute metadata acquisition activities
  • Ability to ask questions, Dig-in, explore & come to new conclusions based on the findings
  • Demonstrates strong troubleshooting and organizational skills and ability to work on multiple Agile Stories
  • Demonstrates domain knowledge of data lifecycle management within the banking or financial services industry is strongly desired
  • Experience with Reference Data and Master Data Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset
  • Coordinating and working along with Offshore resources
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or another related field


Software Skills:

  • Data Governance Tool (Collibra, Informatica, I Talend)
  • ANSI SQL
  • Cloud technologies (preferably AWS) is a plus
  • Databases SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Jira or similar agile tool
  • Confluence

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Coordinate the metadata acquisitions activities from SVC Data and Applications, including scheduling, executions, and change management
  • Coordinate privacy tagging and enrichment such as tokenization and obfuscation of the acquired metadata with the privacy teams and perform UAT
  • Enrich the One Data Catalog (ODC) by ingesting metadata from a wide variety of data sources of SVB, including relational databases, flat files, unstructured data, NoSQL data, ETL repositories, and reporting repositories
  • Continuously improve and optimize data definition, data quality, data traceability, and data lineage functionality within ODC
  • Create, maintain, and administer the ODC to ensure the solution delivers to meet the needs of SVB Data Governance Operating Model, Data Privacy, Data Access, and Compliance
  • Provide operation support of ODC including user setup, optimizing data scans, monitoring usages, system and metamodel configuration
  • Participate and execute Agile stories assigned on time
  • Assist ODC Product team with any data analysis and problem-solving needs
  • Perform UAT and lead defect resolutions
