Catering Manager for Off-site Catering Company
We are a small eatery/catering company and grocer. We have a great selection of locally grown and manufactured foods in our retail store, feature our local farmers and growers in our cafe, and have a busy catering business that has been our hallmark for over 30 years.
Are you an exceptional and experienced caterer who enjoys working with the public, knows how a party goes, is organized with follow-through, and loves great food?
The general requirements
You must:
Have extensive off-site catering experience (as in several years). Serving, bartending and light kitchen experience will be needed.
Have a valid license and car and be willing to use them for catering. We do pay mileage.
Have a flexible schedule to accommodate the unpredictable nature of catering.
Have Computer savvy. We do all our bids in excel and publisher.
Have good writing skills and spelling. You will be sending out e-mails, doing bids and need to be able to communicate effectively and professionally
Have good basic math skills. You will be putting together bids, and must have a decent sense of math and a general sense of food costs.
Be good with people and have good communication skills. This is a serious people position. You must be able to navigate difficult people with grace and know how to smooth over rough situations as well as give clear expectations to our clients so they know what to expect.
Love Food. We make great food that you can be proud to serve. It is great if you also appreciate a fabulous meal and convey that pride to our clients.
Be detail oriented, organized and have good follow through. You will ultimately be putting out bids, making sure all the loose ends are covered, scheduling rentals and staff, working with the kitchen to make timing of caterings flow smoothly. If you are scattered, it will not work.

Job description
You will be:
Putting out catering proposals putting together menus and proposals that include everything we will need to accommodate the needs of the client.
Keeping in touch with clients via e-mail and phone as needed.
Making sure all caterings are on the calendar, updated with the latest revisions and ready to be given to the kitchen for preparation as they get close.
Scheduling serving staff and rentals
Working some events and overseeing others.
Packing and organizing all the parts of the catering for transporting off-site.
