Special Education Teachers are responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote each student’s success.​Special Education teachers report to and are supported by the District Special Education Manager, who provides leadership in all areas of special education programming. In collaboration with the School Principal, the Manager also supports the consistent implementation of attendance and behavioral procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Planning and DeliveryDevelop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs.Deliver instruction aligned with Arkansas Academic Standards and adapted to students' abilities.Utilize evidence-based strategies to support diverse learners.Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.Help Build a Positive School and Classroom CultureWork closely with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and IEP goals.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development sessions.Demonstrate a Growth MindsetMaintain accurate records of student performance and IEP implementation.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations on special education.Prepare reports and documentation as required by ADE and school policies.Other Responsibilities (As Needed)
