Kern Tutoring is seeking dedicated Tutors to join our team!
About Our Program:
At Kern Tutoring, our mission is to empower students by boosting their confidence, improving their grades, and helping them achieve their academic goals. We provide support to local students from kindergarten through 12th grade in reading, math, and homework assistance. Our tutoring center is conveniently located in Downtown Bakersfield, and our tutors and teachers have the opportunity to work at various sites.

Evening Tutoring:
Our team of tutors provides personalized, in-person support to students. Tutors specializing in liberal arts and multiple subjects typically work with students in grades PK-8, while single-subject tutors focus on high school and college students. Most tutoring sessions are scheduled between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, with tutors working 8-15 hours per week.
Day-Time Tutoring:
For experienced tutors and teacher credentialed students, we offer opportunities to work with students in small group settings (5-15 students). These roles include delivering lessons in multiple subjects (Math & ELA) and require commitment of Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of previous experience serving students in an education setting (tutoring, after-school, counseling)
- Ability to tutor in two or more core subjects
- Ability to travel to various tutoring centers
- Minimum commitment of Nov 2024 to June 2025 or beyond
- Preferred majors: Mathematics, Liberal Arts, Science, CAFS
- Bilingual and multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
Minimum Requirements:
- Pass a criminal background check/live scan
- Clear Tuberculosis Test
- 48 college units or meet your university’s classification of “junior”
- Must be available 8am - 2:30pm or 4pm-8pm
- All tutors will be subject to vaccine requirements and COVID-19 safety standards set by Kern Tutoring and affiliate partners.
Compensation:
$19 - 32/hour
Based on education and experience
Employment Status: Part-Time
Teacher Credential Students may qualify for TPA hours
