Direct Care Aide (Bakersfield)
1) Basic Skills
-Dependability, punctuality, creativity, enthusiasm, affection, flexibility, and patience.
-Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing (in English).
-18 years or older with valid ID
- Be able to pass Criminal Background Check
2) Inter-personal Skills
-Sensitivity to the needs, interest, and abilities of the Residents.
-Ability to organize supervise, and direct others; assume and delegate responsibility; accept advice and consultation.
Essential Job Duties
1) Dependable, punctual attendance/Weekends required
2) Assist and/or lead assigned group or one to one activity programs.
3) Encourage and assist Residents to and from activity programs.
4) Report any changes in Resident behavior, safety hazards, or procedural difficulties, to the Administrator.
5) Distribute monthly activity calendars to Residents. Post calendars on designated display boards.
6) Assist with an evaluation of each Resident according to their backgrounds, activity interest, abilities, physical limitations, and needs for meaningful activity programs.
7) Maintain an up-to-date daily charting form on each Resident.
8) Meal preparation for clients
9) Assist with maintaining current organizational systems or special needs list.
10) Attend and participate at staff meetings, care plan meetings, in-service training programs, and other meetings as
assigned.
11) Assist in maintaining equipment and supplies in a neat and safe manner/housekeeping
12) Control, dispensing, and charting of Centrally Stored Medications.
13) Assist in the development of independent living skills (i.e. cooking, cleaning, budget balancing, medication
compliance, appointment scheduling and goal setting).
14) Working with Residents on a one on one basis to develop trust and stability.
15) Encourage independence. Instruct and assist with all Activities of Daily Living.
