Wastewater Operator Grade II, III, IV, or V

Wastewater and Water Operators work onsite at facilities to make operational changes, resolve operational problems, and complete items related to operational compliance to meet regulatory and contractual obligations. Some of their routine tasks include:

Performing routine inspections of water treatment plants, distribution systems, wastewater treatment plants and/or collection systems

- Recording required information and data from observations, laboratory tests, and gauges onsite in physical and electronic logbooks and/or web-based documentation program

- Collecting drinking Wastewater and Water samples and delivering them to analytical laboratories for analysis

- Reading water meters and recording the reads on provided forms or in web-based documentation program

- Responding to leaks, power outages, and other emergencies at facilities to ensure continued operation and safety for customers and the environment

- Coordination of Wastewater and Water system shut-downs with other staff and/or vendors to accommodate repairs or routine maintenance/upgrades

- Chief Plant Operators support shift operators by providing guidance and approval should operational changes need to be made without them present. In addition to the responsibilities described above, some routine tasks of Chief Plant Operators include:

- Signing routine regulator reports that are submitted to regulatory agencies

- Serving as a Legally Responsible Official (LRO) in CIWQS where appropriate

- Training staff on routine operations at the facilities they are responsible for

- Assisting clients and management to plan proactively for necessary repairs and maintenance

This is a full-time position with a rotating On-Call requirement. Wastewater and Water operators are provided a company vehicle and the required tools and materials to fulfill their responsibilities. Company vehicles are fueled and maintained by the company. Compensation is based on experience and certification levels, however all full-time employees are eligible for benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and 401k.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

- A Licensed California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator – Grade 1 or higher

- A Licensed Distribution or Treatment Water Operator – Grade D1 or T1 or higher

- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and mobile technology

- A team player, but able to work independently

- Focused on details

- Excellent at thinking critically to solve problems or improve systems
