Senior Analytical Chemist, Carpinteria, CAPosition Overview : The role of Senior Analytical Chemist is a position in the T&I or QA departments. Under minimal supervision, the Sr. Analytical Chemist performs analysis of new silicone formulations, process intermediates and supports new product development. The Sr. Analytical Chemist conducts method characterization, optimization, validation and transfer studies for the T&I and Analytical labs. The Sr. Analytical Chemist authors and reviews test methods, technical reports, standard operating procedures and other controlled documents.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Formulation and structural characterization of Silicone Materials
Perform customer or product specific test methods and specialized testing
Test Method characterization, optimization, validation and transfer
Formulation and In-process testing for T&I
Complete Failure Mode Analysis for Analytical Test methods and instrumentation
Write and revise; Technical reports and other controlled documents
Implementation of Lean, Continuous Improvement and Laboratory Safety Initiatives
Regular Presenter at department meetings
Manage data integrity (electronic data)
Trainer for lab personnel
Functional Team Leader for QA department
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related field with 5 years' experience.
Master's degree (M.S.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related field.
Proficient with Wet Chemistry and Chromatography analyses.
ASQ certification preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Skills/Knowledge:
Subject Matter Expert in Wet Chemistry Analytical Techniques (GC, GCMS, GPC, LC)
Experience in titration and rheology techniques
Experience with Silicone Chemistry
Technical writing
GLP / cGMP
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company electronic systems (Agile)
Presentation and public speaking
Lean Concept implementation
Project or functional team leader
Continuous Improvement
Lab Safety / Lab Management
Knowledge of industry practices and methods
Professional demeanor (customer liaison/department rep.)
Environmental Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
The employee frequently is required to stand or sit for prolonged periods. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 25 pounds.
