Behavioral Health Clinician I/II

The Behavioral Health Clinician I/II performs a variety of professional duties in the provision of outpatient and crisis behavioral health services to individuals and groups. This person will work with complex casework which may include clinics, criminal justice, adult services, youth and family services, and other mental health settings where they may be asked to respond to crisis situations, work with case managers and psychiatrists in treatment teams and be familiar with various treatment modalities to ensure clients are in appropriate treatment services. The position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

- Provides professional mental health outpatient evaluation, consultation, and treatment services to individuals and groups.

- Observes patients on-site at schools, etc., as necessary; conducts home visits as necessary. Participates in outreach activities, providing information to the community regarding prevention, intervention, and education. Provides psychotherapy to children and adult clients or their relatives through individual or group therapy methods.

- Maintains close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies carrying out treatment plans; monitors contracts with service agencies; provides information to other County departments and agencies.

- Develops and implements community social service programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

I - Some professional experience in the provision of psychiatric social services, counseling, or substance use disorder counseling.

II - Two years of professional experience in the provision of psychiatric social services, counseling, or substance abuse counseling.

EDUCATION:

I/II - Master’s degree in psychology, behavioral science, social work, or related area.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:

I - Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license. Intern number from the Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology as specified in the Business and Professional Code Section 4980.44.

II - Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
