Candidates will be responsible for overseeing the Bank’s credit and counterparty exposure to financial institutions while maintaining quality standards and working closely with other departments throughout the organization.This role:Leads and manages staff to ensure the proper review and structure of transactions meets both internal and external customer needs while conforming to bank and regulatory requirements.

Analyzes financial, economic, and credit data and makes final credit decisions (approval or declination) within signing authority. Recommends to higher level of authority if appropriate

Exposure is mainly to Banks and Insurance Companies. Responsibilities encompass the end to end analysis, approval and monitoring of all types of exposure including derivative hedge of client swaps, ALM/Treasury direct transactions, mortgage insurance providers to our CRES activities, and occasional direct lending exposure.

Reinforces adherence to bank underwriting policies and procedures as well as growth, quality, and profit objectives through the credit approval process.

Implements and reinforces policies and procedures to comply with fundamental business and credit priorities of the bank.

Works on upgrading our infrastructure for exposure calculation, documentation, reporting and provisioning.

Works with other risk functions within Bank of the West and BNPP and with first line departments to develop and implement controls that mitigate excessive risks and improve monitoring.

Analyzes portfolio performance and trends. Makes recommendations and/or implements changes to meet the Bank’s objectives.

Other Job DutiesProactively manages the transaction process from inception to closing; assisting with the underwriting and monitoring of ongoing transactions, exposure, and reporting.

Performs reviews of the financial institution portfolio composition and quality.

Manages the risk of complex financial products and transactions.

Interacts with Relationship Managers, Trading Desks, Treasury, Trade Finance, Loan Servicing, Operations, Legal, and other related Bank personnel regarding issues of credit quality, appropriate structure, as well as new business and related trends.

Involved in transversal projects such as the IBOR transition to SOFR.

Keeps informed of industry and regulatory activities and recommends appropriate changes to current bank programs.

QualificationsRequired ExperienceRequires deep knowledge of job area typically obtainedthrough advanced education combined with experience.

Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline.

Credit risk experience with other customer segments (ascorporates) is a plus.

May have broad knowledge of project management.

Requires 10-12 years minimum prior relevant experience.

Requires prior management experience

EducationBachelor's Degree

Master’s Degree preferred but not required

SkillsExtensive lending or underwriting experience at otherinstitutions.

Complete knowledge of financial statement, business,industry and economic analysis.

Experience covering financial institutions preferable.
