Pomona College
Search for the Chief Information Officer
Claremont, California
Pomona College seeks a collaborative leader to serve as its Chief Information Officer (CIO). Reporting to the president, the CIO will oversee all aspects of technology strategy, integration, and support. The new CIO will join a new leadership team and exceptionally talented Information Technology Services (ITS) staff working to advance academic excellence, helping to sustain campus-wide systems and services, while instilling a greater sense of community and connectedness across the Pomona campus and within The Claremont Colleges as a whole.
Since its founding in 1887, Pomona College has become one of the most highly regarded and selective liberal arts colleges in the world. It also stands with a small number of institutions with need-blind admissions, admitting students based entirely on academic achievement without regard to income status or identity. Because of this institutional commitment, Pomona attracts some of the most highly qualified and most diverse students in the country. With its academically challenging curriculum, exceptional faculty, staff, students, and intimate size, Pomona provides an unparalleled environment for intellectual development and personal growth. The founding member of the Claremont Consortium, Pomona College is also one of seven consortial undergraduate and graduate college members. This arrangement allows for cross-registration of students across campuses and enables collaboration and shared services through effective consortial governance.
Coming to a college with a renewed strategic vision around academic equity and student success, in which technology plays a key part, the CIO will join an intellectual community rich in complexity and ambition. Having managed through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic connecting students, staff, faculty, and alumni across the country and world, the ITS Division is poised for additional successes.
Moving forward, the College seeks an innovative CIO who will re-imagine post pandemic life and return to in-person and other forms of instruction, who will continue to partner with staff and technology leaders within the Claremont Consortium to provide a superlative technology experience and the necessary strategy, technology platforms, and systems to influence all areas of campus life. The CIO will work to advance Pomona’s reputation as a top-ranked liberal arts college and consortial citizen, committed to enhancing academic excellence, equity and inclusion, and a greater sense of community and belonging.
In doing so, the successful candidate will be expected to address the following opportunities and challenges:
