Title : IT Security Specialist (Health Care) Location : Martinez, CA Duration - Contract to Hire
Knowledge of:
The development and implementation of departmental IT security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines, in accordance with County policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
Regulatory and compliance requirements
Industry Best Practices for information security
Technologies necessary to thwart and or detect security breaches
Principles and methods used in the analysis and development of information security systems, policies, procedures and guidelines
Currently accepted best practices in information security standards, guidelines, and theories
Federal, State and Local legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA,HITECH, e-discovery, etc.)
Implementation and monitoring of IT security systems and programs.
Application security, physical/environmental security, policy and compliance, risk assessment, security awareness training, identity and access management, workstation security, incident response, network security and server security
Able to perform risk analyses, generate reports, and lead IT security projects for a large department
MCITP, CCNA/CCDP, or JunOS are desirable
Day to Day
Implements departmental IT security policies, standards and procedures, pursuant to County approved policies, standards, procedures and guidelines, to prevent the unauthorized use, release, modification, loss or destruction of data, and to ensure the integrity and security of the department's IT infrastructure
Conducts vulnerability and risk assessments and identifies IT system compromises or potential compromises and their sources. Provides recommendations for remediation or correction
Coordinates the Department's IT-related aspects of applicable internal and external audits
Directs or conducts the review, evaluation, and recommendation of software products, (e.g., virus scanning and repair, encryption, firewalls, internet filtering and monitoring, intrusion detection) related to IT systems security.
Participates with the County CISO, in the formulation and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
May be required to supervise County personnel and/or Contractors in performing security-related matters
May participate in the review of any of the Department's IT facility acquisitions, construction and/or remodeling to ensure conformance to Federal, State, and County IT security policies, standards and guidelines
May manage other security classifications in a distributed computing enterprise
May be required to represent the Department in legal matters related to IT systems security
Provides and promotes excellence in customer service for both internal and external customers
