MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE
Pay: $19-22
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for greeting, instructing, directing and scheduling patients and visitors. It also serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma/GED equivalent required. Minimum 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting with excellent telephone and customer service skills. Experience with electronic health records and scheduling preferred. Bi-lingual Spanish an added bonus.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching for files and supplies. May occasionally lift files or paper weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, photocopier and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be stressful.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
May assist with preparing daily batching for the business office and/or bank deposits as requested.
Collects money for copays and prior balances
Checks in patients and verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties.
Follows office scheduling policies.
Answers the telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides necessary information to the callers.
Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
May file charts, coordinate lab work, physician’s report, etc.
May sort and deliver mail, medical records, and other correspondence.
May assist in pharmacy refill requests.
Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner.
Attends meetings as required.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of business office procedures. Knowledge of managed care products such as HMO's and PPO's. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly and in alphabetical or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
