Reports To: Director of QC/QA & Food Safety
Summary
The Quality Control & Food Safety Supervisor shall be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of Quality Control department and its assigned works. The Quality Control & Food Safety Supervisor shall ensure that all products entering and leaving the company are properly monitored for quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the Quality Control & Food Safety Supervisor is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality assurance (QA) policies and identifying defects and/or production errors to prevent defective produce from entering the supply chain. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. The Quality Control & Food Safety Supervisor will monitor food safety programs to ensure farming, harvesting, post-harvest handling and packaging processes to adhere to Good Agricultural Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory requirements such as FSMA, USDA and third-party audit certifications (e.g., Global GAP. & PrimusGFS). This role involves conducting inspections, training staff, maintaining food safety documentation, and ensuing adherence to HACCP and other food safety standards.

Job Duties
Conduct quality control inspections.
Assembles and maintains QC documents as required to track all produce shipments in and out of the company.
Support all QC team members and aid in training QC Technicians when required at both packinghouses and fields.
Meets quality control targets as established with internal and external customers.
Monitors the status of and orders calibrations as required for all measurement and quality control equipment within the company.
Confers with management or subordinates to resolve problems and/or complaints.
Ensure that inspections are completed in a timely fashion and that all related documentation is complete and accurate.
Works with other supervisors to coordinate inspection activities within and between product lines.
Knowledgeable on customer specs and product standards.
Knowledgeable on PrimusGFS and GlobalGAP.
Report and communicate defects to the Director of QC/QA & Food Safety.
Communicate with operations and sales team for any QC inquiries or quality concerns if instructed by Director of QC/QA & Food Safety.
Assist inventory clerk in organizing “FIFO” only if incoming loads are poor quality.
Support new product development and continuous improvement in quality processes.
Assist new programs with labelling requirements.
Monitors employee performance and attendance and takes corrective actions as required.
Oversee worker hygiene, sanitation and pest control programs for the farm and packaging facilities.
Provides motivation for employees, increasing morale.
Supervises staff on specified shifts to ensure that all employees are working safely, efficiently and diligently to meet QC requirements.
Ensure that all new quality methods are adopted and incorporated into all QC Technicians.
Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
Contact and coordinate with USDA when required.
Complete food safety documentation as per food safety manual and ensure all required documentation is maintained, including food safety records, audit reports, and traceability logs.
Monitor and enforce HACCP, GMP and other regulatory requirements such as FDA & USDA.
Investigate customer complaints related to product quality and food safety, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Ensure proper labelling, lot coding and documentation for produce shipments.
Provide training and education for employees through proper practices.
Verification of completed food safety documentation.
Lead internal audits and assist with third-party audits.
Perform other food safety tasks such as putting orders for hairnets, sanitation chemicals, ATP swabs and other supplies with office administration.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of direct work experience with QA/QC systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
Direct knowledge of QA/QC methodologies.
Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
Ability to review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
Able to review and maintain metrics and quality audits.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Working Conditions
Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Overtime as required.
