POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low-voltage electrical systems, including data and voice networks, audio, and camera systems. The technician plans and schedules installations, communicates project updates, and ensures safety and quality standards are met. This role requires technical expertise, meticulous documentation, and customer interaction to contribute to the success of Xobee’s technical operations. Low Voltage Technicians are highly motivated with the desire and drive to learn quickly. Candidates enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work independently or with a team.
This position requires work during normal business hours (M-F 8am-5pm), however, operational needs may require additional time outside of normal business hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a list of essential job functions and responsibilities for the Low Voltage Technician. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed, or modified from time to time.
-Install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems.
-Diagnose and resolve issues including data, voice, fiber optic, audio video systems, and camera systems.
-Install and configure low voltage systems according to manufacture specifications and industry standards.
-Installation of cable infrastructure (CAT5/E and CAT6).
-Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks).
-Cable management (dressing, labeling).
-Cable Termination (Patch Panel, Jacks, Keystones, RJ-45/Modular Plug).
-Wireless Access Point (WAP) Installation.
-IT Closet Builds (MDF, IDF, Data rack, ladder rack, cable tray, sleeve installation).
-Dress and route cable into IT closets, modular furniture, and other work area outlets.
-Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
-Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
-Operate company provided equipment and vehicles in a safe manner following all local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1+ years of commercial structured cabling, low voltage, or data cable installation experience:
-Ability to read and follow blueprints set for installation.
-Excellent attention to detail.
-Excellent change management skills.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Experience working in a fast-paced team environment.
-Experience in both large, sophisticated company environments as well as small high growth companies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

-Lift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.
-Perform ladder climbing and wire pulling.
-Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt.
-Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
-Work from ladders, man lifts, or reach booms.
-While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions including cold, rain, heat, etc.
-High noise levels.
-Out of town/frequent travel to onsite locations.
-Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-Must have the physical, emotional and mental ability to manage stress and maintain attention to detail and accuracy -despite interruptions.
COMPENSATION:
This is a Non-Exempt position. Base pay will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, and other position related factors.
