Student Assistant in Viticulture Research Lab

I am looking for two student assistants who are available now through autumn. The work will entail field work (outside in a vineyard) and lab work (inside, processing samples and doing some simple chemistry). Salary depends on experience and other factors but will likely be between $17 and $18 per hour. The work is part time during the school year, and part or full time in the summer, or whenever school is not in session. Job candidates must be enrolled in college while employed in my lab, preferably in a viticulture, horticulture, plant science, biology, or chemistry program, or an allied discipline. They must also possess a valid California driver's license, and be able to safely and routinely lift and carry around approximately 40 lbs (possible weight of a box of fruit). They must also be willing to work early hours when needed (to avoid heat), commute daily to Parlier, and work outside under conditions that are routinely hot and dusty, and in the presence of insects and other critters.

The work includes applying fertilizers, and possibly plant growth regulators or other pesticides (with proper training and PPE), collecting and processing plant, water, and soil samples, entering data into excel or other similar programs, and weighing, counting, and measuring things accurately. It will be most meaningful as an internship for people who are interested in viticulture, horticulture, or applied plant sciences. Interested applicants should submit a resume ASAP.
