Job Summary
Under the direction of the Family Resource Program Coordinator, the Latino Outreach Specialist will deliver mental health outreach, engagement activities, and education groups for the Latino Community with the goal of educating about and decreasing the stigma and fear of mental health issues in the Latino population. The Specialist will offer wellness education, advocacy, referrals, and support to facilitate the connection of Latino families to health and wellness resources.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The list of essential functions and physical requirements is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, as necessary. Not all functions may be performed by the incumbent.
1. Educates the Latino population on mental health and other healthcare and wellness topics using NCSOS-approved curriculum, materials, and resources.
2. Works in conjunction with service providers, professionals, schools, funders, and other community groups to provide meaningful and engaging psycho-educational sessions to achieve outcomes defined by contracts.
3. Plans, coordinates, advertises, and conducts outreach to deliver psycho-educational meetings and individual informational sessions for adults and children.
4. Attends necessary trainings required to meet NCSOS and funder requirements.
5. As requested by the supervisor, attends Nevada County Behavioral Health Department’s Mental Health Services Act Steering Committee Meetings or other community meetings.
6. Works in conjunction with the PARTNERS Family Resource Center, Grass Valley Charter, Grass Valley School District, or other stakeholders to schedule meeting space.
7. Provides language translation for families accessing services at any of the three PARTNERS Family Resource Centers.
8. Delivers and collects required surveys and sign-in sheets of attendees and maintains all program and evaluation documentation, and produces required evaluation reports.
9. Maintains and upholds NCSOS confidentiality agreement and adheres to document destruction policy.
10. Coordinates food and childcare services using an authorized budget and NCSOS guidelines to encourage parent attendance at class sessions and meetings.
11. On an emergency basis, and when necessary, accompanies and/or provides transportation for clients for mental health evaluations,
12. Maintains appropriate professional boundaries with children and families.
13. At the request of the supervisor, represents NCSOS at public meetings and provides presentations about the performance of the Latino Outreach Services program.
14. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, may be qualifying. We reserve the right to determine if a candidate meets the qualifications.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with coursework in related field such as education, psychology, suicide prevention, mental health issues.
Experience teaching adults in a group setting or facilitating groups preferred.
Two (2) year’s experience working within a Latino community, conducting group trainings, mentoring or similar social services programs.
Other Requirements: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
