DC Solar Electric, Inc. a Division of the Stevens Family Companies has an opportunity for a CAD Drafter/Designer. Our CAD Drafter/Designer job will offer you an exciting opportunity to help provide clean, safe, and a reliable source of Electric Power to light, cool and heat homes, schools, run factories, and provide goods and services that we all depend upon. The CAD Drafter/Designer will provide drafting and design services for solar PV projects ranging in scale from small commercial to large utility (2kW-20MW+). These services include designing and drafting, energy performance modeling, and site inspections, among others.

This position will support DC Solar Electric projects and clients at all stages of development. In addition to technical knowledge, the position demands excellent written and verbal communication to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences. The position will have a high amount of client interaction and requires a high degree of professionalism.

As a CAD Drafter/Designer, you will:

Design solar PV systems ranging in scale from small commercial to utility-scale including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects utilizing AutoCAD and PVsyst, among other design tools.

Coordinate multidisciplinary team of engineers and equipment manufacturers to provide construction-ready plans and details for installations.

Provide solar technical consulting expertise to clientele as needed to address immediate needs or long-term strategies.

Conduct site visits to prospective project locations for project feasibility assessments.

Conduct engineering inspections at sites with active construction or recently completed projects for quality control and progress reporting.

Create and maintain project documentation related to project design and development.

Communicate with project development and project management teams to coordinate design requirements and scheduling.

Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), and administrative staff on deliverables.

Coordinate technical, engineering, and construction support during all phases of client development.

Perform site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency and solar projects involving residential and commercial customers.

Design solar electric systems while applying knowledge of structural energy requirements, utility and AHJ requirements.

Apply and share your knowledge of high voltage substation projects.

Design permit packages and construction documents using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project Management software.

Provide engineering specifications and mechanical and electrical drawings.

You will partner on a day-to-day basis with project managers, business development and construction managers.

What you will need to know:

Knowledge of construction processes and practices in electrical, civil, and structural trades. Solar systems familiarity a plus.

Industry-standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code, and others.

AutoCAD.

Microsoft Office programs.

Qualifications:

Experience with AutoCAD program.

Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.

Ability to work well with a team and independently.

Reliable transportation.

Valid CA driver’s license.

This is a full-time or part-time position. Competitive wages paid based on experience.
