Description: Assists in care of clients in various stages of recovery from chemical dependency
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited program for licensed vocational nurses. One year of acute care experience. Recent chemical dependency experience preferred.
Position summary:
Provides nursing care to chemically dependent patients in the residential programs by performing routine and special procedures, observing patient conditions, maintaining a clean and safe environment and other related duties under the supervision of a registered nurse or nurse manager. Assists the registered nurse in providing nursing care in more complex situations.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs daily nursing observation of patient's physical problems and status.
2. Assists with assessments of new residents and reports to Medical Director.
3. May obtain random urine and and other specimens ordered by the Medical Director.
4. Monitors each patient's detoxification (i.e., vital signs, medications, signs and symptoms of withdrawal) and reports findings to Medical Director as needed. Administers medication as prescribed, evaluates medication effects as described within standards.
5. Assists with orientation of patient to facility layout and routine.
6. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adult patients, having the ability to assess data reflective of such patients' status, identifying each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and applying the principles of growth and development of such patients.
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

Certification/Licensure/Registration Requirements:
Current California Vocational Nurse License. Current CPR/First Aid
