About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person position. We’re big on teamwork and believe the best collaboration happens face-to-face. To keep our culture strong:
Friday Lunches: The firm provides lunch every Friday, and we eat together as a team.
Friday Afternoons: Phones go to our answering service so we can focus on training, case planning, and team development.
Schedule:
Flexible start between 8:00–8:30 a.m.
Wrap up between 5:00–5:30 p.m.
We work hard, and yes, there will be some long days—but that’s the exception, not the rule.
Deep Work:
We believe in focus. Expect to block out 2–4 hours daily for uninterrupted work on major projects—no phone, no email, no IM. Neuroscience backs this, and it’s good for you and the team.
Caseload & Responsibilities:
We cap our caseload and maintain high standards for the cases we accept. You’ll be assigned to one of two dockets and handle:
Intakes, pleadings, discovery, depositions
Discovery motions, mediations, settlement discussions
Pre-trial motions, mock trials, focus groups
Case disbursements
You’ll work under the guidance of a senior attorney and have support from a case manager/legal assistant and a paralegal.

About Maurer Law
We prosecute personal injury, wrongful death, and elder abuse cases—primarily in Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, and El Dorado counties. Most cases involve auto crashes (including dangerous roadway claims), plus falls, dog bites, and defective products. Our elder abuse cases focus on injuries or death caused by reckless neglect in skilled nursing and residential care facilities.
Our main office is in Auburn, across from the Historic Placer County Courthouse. We also have satellite offices in Rocklin, Nevada City, and Truckee for client meetings and trial prep.
We’re deeply committed to serving and improving our community—through our work, marketing, networking, and how we interact with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
We’re looking for someone who wants to plant roots in Placer County and align with our values and principles.
