At Sierra Child and Family Services our mission is to help families reunite, to stop cycles of abuse, to provide mental health services and behavior management skills, and to assist families in successfully living together. Our staff shares a common goal to help children with genuine emotional challenges to function in the outside world and live in the least restrictive setting in which they can thrive.

The FFA Social Worker fills many important roles, including:

Conduct orientations for potential resource family home applicants and evaluate/assess their application using SAFE methodology; actively participate in foster parent training as directed

Evaluate and assess children or non-minor dependents for placement/continued placement in a certified home

Supervision of the placement of children or non-minor dependents

Provide support services to children or non-minor dependents and to certified families

Coordinate with families, placing agencies, and treatment team members to deliver services in a timely and comprehensive manner; act as a community, family and court liaison

Prepare documentation and reports in compliance with State requirements and agency guidelines

Participate in after-hours "on call" schedule on a rotating basis

Supervise visitation and transportation as directed by court

This role requires excellent communication skills and serves as a vital link between the Child/Family and other treatment team members.

Essential Requirements:

Master's Degree or higher from accredited or state approved graduate school in social work or social welfare, marriage, family and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology; may apply for an exception, provided the coursework and field practice/experience requirements are met.

Completion of Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) training.

Must have prior experience working with emotionally disturbed children.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends is essential. Must have availability to serve children outside of school hours.

Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation which meets State/CCL standards

Must be physically and mentally fit to work with potentially violent, emotionally disturbed clients and be willing to complete a TB and health screening physical exam.

Must obtain a Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certification

Must possess a valid California driver's license, a driving record with no more than one point, and personal auto insurance

Must possess basic knowledge of the English language.

We work as a team and various duties may be assigned at any time to all positions, including cleaning, organizing, childcare, attendance at meetings, transportation, paperwork, etc.
