Compensation & Benefits Specialist

Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Benefits Analyst in Goleta, California. The role involves administering benefits programs and ensuring their compliance with policies and procedures. The industry focuses on various benefits programs such as health and welfare, retirement, and wellness programs. Responsibilities:

Administer health, welfare, retirement, and wellness benefit programs in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Conduct regular audits of benefit data across insurance carriers, Workday, and payroll systems to ensure accuracy.

Oversee the biweekly processing and funding of HSA and 401(k) contributions, working closely with Payroll to ensure timely and accurate contributions.

Compare biweekly payroll year-to-date (YTD) reports with Workday data and employee HSA accounts to resolve discrepancies.

Manage 401(k) loan requests and changes in both Workday and Payroll systems.

Act as the designated point of contact for benefits invoicing, ensuring invoices are processed in line with the budget and entered into the iProcurement system in a timely manner.

Ensure compliance with government regulations and audits.

Monitor plan limits, eligibility, and participation restrictions to ensure compliance with plan provisions and government requirements.

Track and maintain all enrollments, changes, and terminations within Workday, 401(k) record-keeping, and external carrier systems.

Develop and distribute employee communications related to benefit plans, wellness programs, and new offerings to promote continuous education and engagement.

Serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting and resolving escalated benefits-related issues.

Participate in the annual Benefits Open Enrollment process, assisting with strategy, planning, and execution. Support the setup and configuration of Workday, and updating platforms with new plans or changes.

Coordinate and manage employee communications and logistics for events such as Benefits Fairs and Open Enrollment meetings across various locations.

Requirements

Proven experience in benefits administration, including health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs.

Strong knowledge of benefits compliance regulations, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and Workers’ Compensation.

Proficiency in using HRIS systems (preferably Workday) and payroll systems.

Experience with 401(k) plan administration, including contribution processing, loans, and compliance.

Strong analytical skills with experience conducting data audits and resolving discrepancies.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex benefits information in an understandable way.

Experience with vendor management and handling benefits invoicing processes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams, such as Payroll, HRIS, and external vendors.

Familiarity with open enrollment processes, including system setup, testing, and employee communication.

Demonstrated ability to ensure benefits plan compliance with government regulations and company policies.
