The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (the Tribe) provides and supports a leading edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe’s business enterprises. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the success of the IT staff to meet the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department.
The Software Engineer II’s role is to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The Software Engineer II will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Code, install, test, debug, diagnose, troubleshoot and document software applications using appropriate editors, and according to specifications.
2. Assist junior engineers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.
3. Participate in Agile functions including Daily Scrums, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective.
4. Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
5. Liaise with network administrators, Database Administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Provide guidance to junior software developers and research assistants.
6. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing software and web applications and sites.
7. Review and recommend improvements for monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging to the Senior Software Engineer.
8. Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
9. Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
10. Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline required.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Working technical knowledge of programming languages, including but not limited to C#, C, VB or similar languages.
  • Experience working with enterprise applications, including SharePoint, MS Exchange, Active Directory, Git.
  • Hands on experience working in integrated development environments, including Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio, MySQL Workbench.
  • Extensive experience with Windows 7+, Windows Server 2008R2+ operating systems.
  • Extensive experience with MSSQL, MySQL database.
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including IIS, SSL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Ajax, jQuery, AngularJs, Bootstrap, MS MVC, SOAP, REST, Mulesoft Anypoint Platform.
  • Hands-on software troubleshooting/problem determination experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience with specific phases of the software development life cycle, especially Inception, Construction, Transition.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity of the Casino Gaming Industry preferred, but not required.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Software development certification such as MCSD: Web Applications, MCSD: SharePoint Applications, CSSLP, or CSDP, preferred.
