Monday-Friday, 8 hours/Day 260 Days/Year

$30.64 - $43.23 per hour, DOE

3 years of experience in school financial accounting preferred, analysis, budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, payroll, and competency in spreadsheet and software applications.

Job Summary:

Under direction of the Superintendent, the Business Manager performs varied and responsible activities in the preparation and processing of general business activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing payroll, managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate personnel files, and overseeing the District budget.

Duties vary depending upon the needs or the office and may include the following:

Payroll/Personnel - Performs a variety of complex clerical functions in preparation of the district payroll for data processing input, making sure that individual employee records are accurately maintained on a current basis, including new hires, salary and deduction changes; interprets and applies appropriate rules and regulations; corrects errors in payroll data reporting; maintains classified and certificated personnel files including transcripts and credentials; maintains employee sick leave and vacation records; prepares payroll cost estimates; prepares a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Purchasing/Accounts Payable - Makes telephone and correspondence contacts with vendors regarding prices, quotations, and specifications; reviews and processes requisitions which do not require formal bids; completes purchase orders and requests for quotations; recaps all quotations and formal bids; prepares bid lists; maintains and updates equipment inventory records; processes payments to vendors; files and maintains vendor files; replenishes revolving accounts; reconciles monthly bank statements.

Accounts Receivable/Deposits – Issues bills for outside vendors and departments; manages district receipts and prepares deposits; delivers deposits to banks; accurately inputs the receipt data into the financial system; forwards appropriate paperwork to the County Office of Education; files and maintains detailed receipt and deposit records; maintains use of facilities billings and receipts.

Budget/General Ledger – Prepares, monitors, and adjusts District budget as necessary; prepares Interims and budget adoption for the District; works collaboratively with the Superintendent to ensure accurate budget projections; attends District school board meetings monthly to present budget data; balances general ledger accounts monthly and makes correcting entries as needed; posts appropriate closing entries to financial data.

Other - Acts as receptionist for the business office and gives out information to the public and district employees; designs office forms; maintains and distributes mail; other duties as assigned related to business or office activities.

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to completion of high school including or supplemented by training in financial record keeping and three years of experience in responsible school financial record keeping, budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, including experience in payroll preparation, and competency in spreadsheet and software applications.
