Teacher Job Description
Under the supervision of the Directors, the person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of the classroom which they are hired for.

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have 12 ECE units, including the core classes. The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education and must be able to meet the requirements of the licensing agency. This person must be sensitive and a mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. This person must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity. This person must be detail oriented and manage their time effectively. Must be able to problem solve and work as a team- essential to have good communication with others. Be able to talk with other adults in a respectful and mature manner. Be able to prioritize different tasks, as needed. Work with other teachers to maintain cohesiveness in the classroom. Must be able to take proactive measures to teach, protect and care for the children. Must be willing to implement and take pride in the program philosophy.
Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Planning, supervising and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the program
Gearing the program to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents and individual style and pace of learning
Considering individual children in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background
Treating children with dignity and respect
Helping children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group
Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor and learning environment of the classroom.
Keeping the classroom clean!
Ability to redirect or change curriculum instantly if planned materials aren't working
Assist Directors in explaining the program to visitors
Assist Directors in supervising the teaching staff and in ensuring the smooth coordination of all classroom activities and staff and student interrelationships
Assist Directors in teacher-training activities, teaching demonstrations and staff evaluations
Assist the staff in the effective use of parent assistants
Assist the Directors in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of children
Assist the Directors and staff in parent-school relationships
Attend all staff meetings, recommend training programs and attend the in-service staff meeting yearly
Attend meetings and conferences appropriate for school educators, sometimes as a representative of the school inplace of the Directors
Must be fiscally responsible with supplies (be creative and aware of use of items)
Assist aides in learning and growing as teachers
