Position Description:
Redwood Coast Montessori is looking for an dedicated, enthusiastic, and positive Kitchen Assistant. The role of Kitchen Assistant is assisting in the preparation and serving of school breakfast and lunches, transporting meals to our Arcata Campus, daily cleanup, and assisting the cook with daily tasks as needed.
Duties:
Assist with the daily breakfast and lunch program under the cook’s direction.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and health-compliant kitchen.
Provide temporary supervision of students in the cafeteria and ensure their safety until dismissal to a responsible adult.
Perform general housekeeping
Transport meals daily to our Arcata Campus.
Support the cook with tasks as needed.
Prepare detailed accident reports when required.
Attend trainings, conferences, professional days, and other school-designated activities.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and loyalty to the school.
Treat all children, families, and staff with dignity and respect.
Foster positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Communicate concerns responsibly and respectfully.
Contribute to a kitchen environment of calm, order, and care for equipment and furnishings.
Requirements upon being hired:
Fingerprinted and DOJ clearance,
Negative TB test
Must attend and pass adult and child First Aid/CPR
Food Handler’s certificate
Reliable transportation to and from the work site
