Location: Silvercrest Senior Apartments, Eureka
Job Type: Part-Time, Flexible hours: approximately 12 hours/week, with a mutually agreed-upon schedule
Pay: $18/hour
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient IHSS caregiver to assist an elderly woman with a middle stage of dementia. The caregiver will primarily help with meal preparation, cooking, and light housework. This is a role for someone who has a genuine passion for caregiving and understands the unique needs of individuals with dementia.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare and cook balanced meals, assist with meal clean up
-Perform occasional laundry duties: washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing and linens as needed
-Change of bedding, vacuum, dust, sweep, empty trash as needed
-Accompany her to medical appointments and grocery shopping
-Provide gentle reminders for daily routines, including ensuring medication is taken on schedule
-Monitor basic needs (e.g., low groceries, laundry schedule, weekly shower) and help keep routines consistent
Requirements:
-Must be established with IHSS as a registered caregiver.
-Previous experience working with individuals with dementia is preferred.
-Ability to work independently and take initiative to support her well-being
-Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
-Ability to follow a daily schedule and adapt to changing needs.
-Reliable transportation to/from the home.
