Searching for a IHSS (or someone willing to become one) care provider for a woman in her 80s and in the later stages of dementia.
We need someone to fill in the hours of 8am-10am Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Duties will include helping get her up, dressed, meds, breakfast and through morning hygiene tasks such as teeth brushing, hair combing, flossing, etc.
Patient can walk with a walker, but will need assistance standing up and sitting down safely. She can still use the bathroom herself, but she must be fully supervised at all times and directed through all the steps. Pull ups are worn at all times, and will need to be changed often with your assistance. When daily tasks are done she enjoys coloring, watching tv, looking at photo books, etc.
Dementia is quite progressed at this point, but she’s generally in a pleasant mood. Easily redirected. Focus lasts very little time, less than a minute most the time.
We’d love someone who’s had experience working with dementia patients, but all she needs is someone with patience and understanding. Please be dependable, as her care is split between several family members who also have other jobs to juggle. A car is a must, as there is no public transportation close by.
