Two Feathers NAFS is a tribally chartered nonprofit of Big Lagoon Rancheria, that provides behavioral health and culture-based prevention services. Two Feathers’ mission is to empower Native American youth and their families to achieve their full potential by offering culturally affirming mental health and wellness programs in Humboldt County. Two Feathers serves all self-identified Native American Youth and their families in Humboldt County.

We are hiring a full-time social worker to provide crisis intensive case coordination to Native youth and families, as well as Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) case coordination for the Big Lagoon Rancheria.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Crisis Response and Coordination Services (50%):Provide crisis care coordination including linkage to risk assessment and crisis resources and submitting appropriate referrals to services.

Communicate important information and updates to caregivers and team members.

Monitor and update safety plans as appropriate, communicate safety plans to appropriate individuals.

Facilitate team meetings with youth and family and appropriate support for the purpose of supporting safety plan implementation and monitoring youth’s wellbeing and level of support.

Facilitate treatment team meetings with Two Feathers assigned staff.

Provide peer specialist and/or crisis counseling support when appropriate.

Complete all required documentation in a timely manner

ICWA Advocacy and Case Management (50%)Work with Big Lagoon Rancheria families to prevent Child Welfare Services interventions

Advocate for Tribal rights under ICWA working closely with Tribes, Counties, Legal and other identified participants in and outside of court

Advocate for the best interest of the Tribe’s children to promote healing, access, culture and wellbeing

Understand and stay current with Federal and State Laws as they relate to ICWA

Provide ongoing collaboration with Child Welfare Services in all aspects of ICWA cases to include but not limited to: inquiry, ER investigations, removal, family reunification, family maintenance, permanency planning, and guardianship cases.

Collaborate with County Social Worker in the development of case management plans for families in crisis and ensure linkages to all services.

Ensure active efforts are made to assist clients in gaining culturally appropriate service delivery and encourage clients to use recommended services such as counseling, parenting, domestic violence support, substance abuse support, community health and/or provide referrals to other community resources.

Provide case management to include but not limited to collaborating on writing court reports, maintaining correct and confidential records, performing home visits, completing contact/progress notes, and participating in meetings/court proceedings relevant to clients

Advocate on behalf of the Tribe to hold federal, state, and county accountable to ICWA

Communicate and engage the Tribal Chairman in decision making processes and provide continuous updates to Tribe and Tribal attorneys

Provide crisis support to assigned ICWA cases, as needed

Attend training designed to further understand the Tribal Child Welfare processes and ICWA.

QUALIFICATIONS Masters level preferred, will consider Bachelor Level of Education

Have at least one year of experience working in the Child Welfare System whether that be as an ICWA advocate, Tribal social worker or a CWS social worker

Experience working in tribal communities with Native American youth and their families, preferred

Current driver’s license, in good standing

Fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index

Must comply with a drug-free workplace

Retirement Plan: Employees are eligible for a Simple IRA. After six months of employment, Two Feathers will match dollar for dollar the employee's elective deferral contribution up to 3% of the employee's total annual compensation.

Full-time employees accrue 96 hours of sick time and 1 week of vacation within the first year of employment, to increase to 3 weeks of vacation earned per year after the first year.

13.5 paid holidays each year.

Two Feathers is a HRSR site and licensed employees are eligible for the HRSA student loan repayment program.
