North Fork Lumber Company is looking to hire a hardworking and motivated Log Yard Groundman/Laborer at our Korbel sawmill facility. This position carries out multiple manual labor duties in and around the log yard.
Essential Functions include:
Accurately measuring and cutting logs to length.
Placement, maintenance and removal of sprinklers and waterlines on log decks.
Operating pump stations and monitoring water movement for the sprinkler system, storage ponds and constructed wetlands.
Operating Equipment such as water truck, dump truck, and skid steer.
Maintaining small gas-powered equipment.
Grass and vegetation maintenance around log yard and mill site.
Operation of the truck scales and performing weighmaster duties as needed.
Assisting log tapers and scalers in scale yard with measuring and log marking.
General site maintenance including cleanup projects, wetlands maintenance, and other special projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, hardworking and possess a positive can-do attitude with a willingness to learn. Candidate must be proficient with a chainsaw, able to follow instructions and work well both independently and as a team. Mechanical knowledge and ability are strongly desired.
