Description A large, premier company based in Huntington Beach is seeking an in-house counsel (ideally, with 2-8 years of experience) to join their growing legal department.As a junior-to-mid-level in-house counsel, you should be confident in the following:

commercial contracts: drafting, redlining, and negotiating agreements related to real estate, vendors, service providers, insurance companies, and basic NDAs, MSAs, & SOWs

mergers & acquisitions: conducting due diligence for acquiring new companies

corporate governance: provide legal advice and institute policies & procedures

As a person, you should be:

a creative problem solver (not someone who prefers answer in black & white)

someone who likes to do different things every day (not someone who needs a strict routine)

a well-rounded counsel, a jack of all trades (not someone who specializes in one area of corporate law)

a strong negotiator (ideally, with a variety of contract types)

Bonus points if you:

can work in Huntington Beach daily (minimum 3x/week, but must live in OC)

previously worked in a highly regulated industry (insurance, mortgage, real estate, healthcare)

are customer-facing (not someone who just likes to sit in a back room writing contracts)

Pay is contingent upon corporate law experience with the duties above. We have done a ton of business with this company and candidates are happy working there! This company wants someone to start before the end of the year, so please do not apply if you cannot start until January! Requirements Must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school Admitted to the CA bar A minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm (handling corporate matters such as the ones above) or corporate legal department Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a highly regulated industry, such as insurance Proven ability to draft, redline, and negotiate contracts Experience touching mergers & acquisitionsAttorneys who have previously worked as General Counsels, Chief Legal Officers, VPs of Legal, or other high-level roles will not be considered.
