Description Robert Half is partnering with a growing company in the Huntington Park, California area who has an opening for a Payroll Clerk who will support the Payroll department in a variety of duties. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Work closely with the Payroll Team to ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, deduction, wage and hour and tax laws.

Assist in conducting regular audits of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring payroll accuracy and mitigating compliance risks.

Generate and review standard payroll reports, including earnings statements, tax reports, and 401K benefit summaries, to verify data accuracy and completeness

Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, or potential issues in payroll data

Create new reporting as needed and download and distribute accounting reports

Process Bi-weekly payroll and support the processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees including but not limited to garnishments, current and retro benefits, and taxes

Serve as a backup resource for bi-weekly payroll processing during peak periods, vacations, or in the absence of other team members.

Collaborate with the payroll specialist to ensure timely and accurate payment to employees

Assist with processing of ad hoc manual and final paychecks for employees as needed.

Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to the HRIS, Time and Attendance and/or payroll system.

Maintain and audit employee payroll record, tax information, and other relevant payroll data in the HRIS database.

Coordinate with HR about changes in Payroll (terminations, new hires, etc) and assist HR with Importing data as needed.

Provide prompt and accurate assistance to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries, including paycheck inquiries, tax withholding questions, and benefits-related matters.

Communicate payroll-related information to employees in a clear and approachable manner, ensuring understanding and transparency.

Communicate with HR, location supervisors and managers on payroll items and topics

Collaborate with the payroll team on special projects, such as process improvements, system enhancements, or implementation of new payroll policies or regulations

Perform other special assignments and/or requests as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED Required2-3+ years of relevant payroll experienceExperience with ADP Workforce Now is requiredExperience with ADP E-Time, Kronos or similar time and attendance software preferredExcel - comfortable with spreadsheet formatting (pivot tables, vlookups, formulas are a plus)Strong technical and analytical skillsBasic understanding of accounting principlesSolid critical thinking and attention to detailExcellent communications skills required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Maintain knowledge of changes in wage and tax laws

Communicate with Managers on compliance issues that arise with in the Time and Attendance system.

Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, salaries, overtime, commissions, and other compensation

Participate in research initiatives related to payroll, employment regulations, and HR-related developments, providing valuable insights for decision-making.

Participate in all payroll projects to include payroll system upgrades and payroll reporting processes.
