Director Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Overall responsibility to administer, direct, and coordinate all activities of the behavioral health facility and staff. To carry out objectives of effective, efficient, and quality consumer care services; with the attainment of financial and operational goals. Promote new programs, and participate in the promotion of the facilitys services. Administer all facility operations within policies & procedures, regulations, contracts, company code of conduct, and general directives. Develop favorable community and facility relations, and negotiate for the improvement of the facility. Recommend and develop policies, guidelines and procedures for facility activities. Perform related administrative and supervisory duties to ensure efficient and effective operations of the behavioral health facility. Maintain a positive relationship with County. This position supervises the entire program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Demonstrate proficiency in the administration and management of the facility, to include long and short term planning and evaluation of the organizations goals and objectives, budgeting, public relations, contract administration, and supervision of the total facility operation.

2. Achieve and maintain accreditation standards of CARF International, Medi-Cal, all contracted entities, licensure, and related organizations.

3. Maintain service contract requirements.

4. Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining a positive work atmosphere by modeling positive behavior and communication in a manner that promotes cooperation and teamwork with co-workers, supervisors, consumers and visitors.

5. Directs the execution of a comprehensive human resources program to expand the utilization of human resources and enhance the skill levels within departments.

6. Develop cooperative relations with other community agencies, hospitals, healthcare facilities, housing agencies and community support groups.

7. Ensure the preparing of organized manuals of written policies and procedures that outline the manner in which assigned service areas conduct business and accomplish goals and objectives.

8. Ensures accurate information of daily census, potential admission information and required reports. Provide this information as required.

9. Communicates pertinent information to staff in timely manner. Establishes and conducts facility meetings/trainings and committees as necessary to assure effective liaison and consensus between the program departments.

10. All required budget/fiscal documentation is clear, and consistent.

11. Maintains a courteous and professional manner in dealing with consumers, family members, visitors, physicians, vendors, consumers and employees.

12. Handles emergencies, pressures and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

13. Approves consumers for admission, transfers or discharges and trains employees for approval back-up

14. Ensure all documentation is complete

15. Attends daily walk throughs with staff to ensure environment is safe, clean, and conducive to providing quality treatment.

16. Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns, following proper emergency guidelines, and displaying neutral emotions. Certified ProAct/ProCare.

17. Promotes a recovery, wellness and healthy lifestyle, including drug free.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE-Masters prepared and licensed in healing arts or Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology preferred. Must be eligible or certified in California as an Administrator for Residential Care Facilities. 2 years of supervisory experience in a medical facility. Valid State Drivers License.

LANGUAGE/CULTURAL SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and document consumer behavior. Ability to speak effectively before groups of consumers or employees of organization. Bilingual preferred. Solid understanding of a variety of cultures and able to effectively communicate, understand and correspond with those cultures.
