We are looking to hire a Mobile Diesel Fleet Mechanic to help maintain our fleet of Freightliner trucks and container chassis and respond to roadside assistance calls. The candidate will be responsible for completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records.

We require:

5 years fleet mechanic with tractor & trailer experience.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Working English proficiency.

Must be able to operate hand tools, power tools, compressors, generators, all service types of gauges, meters, etc.

Knowledge of DOT regulations; CA BIT inspections.

Experience dealing with breakdowns, roadside callouts, and ordering parts.

Experience working with Detroit & Cummings diesel engines.

Experience welding and cutting material using arc welding or flame-cutting equipment is a plus.

V-CAD experience is a plus.

Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance and be available for occasional overtime or weekend work.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for repairs and maintenance of company Freightliner semi- tractors and container chassis.

Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; perform oil changes; chassis lubrication, and identifying worn and damaged parts.

Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.

Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Contain costs by using warranty; evaluate service and parts options.

Perform tire replacements, rotations, mounting, and dismounting.

Additional Job Information:

This job position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This job also requires working outdoors in all weather.

Travel to provide roadside assistance or purchase parts is expected.

Candidates must be physically fit and able to lift 75 pounds independently, at times exerting up to 150 lbs of force to pull, push, lift carry.

Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.

Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.

Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.

Requires use of safety equipment that may include but is not limited to face shields or goggles, gloves, welding mask, knee pads, ear protection, safety vest, and other protective garments and equipment provided by All Modal Transportation.

Requires non-slip work shoes – reimbursable up to $50 after 3 months with the company.
