Catalina Research Institute, LLC is enrolling for a Hypertriglyceridemia study.
Severe hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG) is a condition in which the level of triglycerides, or fats in the blood, is very high. Triglycerides are the most common type of fat in the human body. They come from food, such as butter and oil, but also from when a person eats more calories than they need. SHTG can:
-put a person at risk of heart disease and blood vessel disease
- lead to the pancreas (an organ in your belly that helps digest food) becoming quickly swollen. When the pancreas becomes swollen, this is called acute pancreatitis.
About the study
This clinical study is looking at how safe an investigational study drug is and whether it works for people with SHTG. The study is also looking to see if:
- there are any side effects the investigational study drug may cause (called “tolerability”)
- the investigational study drug reduces other types of fat in the blood, such as cholesterol.
Who can take part?
To possibly take part, you need to:
- be 18 years of age or older
- have high blood fat levels (triglycerides 150 mg/dL to ≥500 mg/dL)
-agree to follow diet counseling and maintain a stable low-fat diet during the study.
-be able to provide lab results and medical records for triglyceride elevation
-Must be on medication for high cholesterol and hypertriglyceridemia
