The Cutting Technician / Saw Operator produces machined parts on a daily basis. Operates drills and/or grinders and saws to run the different operations/jobs and ensure that a quality product is produced in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Essential Functions
Conduct all set-up and quality operations in support of machining for self and others.
Operate machines in accordance with process sheets and any other required paperwork (i.e., drawings, specifications, etc.).
Use manufacturing paperwork (travelers, blueprints, sketches, etc.) to: manufacture product that meets quality requirements. Inspect and verify work prior to submitting for inspection. If non-conforming, process via non-conforming material procedures.
Correctly process work via required paperwork and MRP system.
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required
Manufacturing experience is a plus
Mechanically inclined
Must have at least 1-4years’ experiences a machine operator or similar job.
Should have knowledge of bench and surface grinders, inspection equipment and computer experience
Basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.
Well versed in reading blueprints, using measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.
Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and blueprints.
Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, working 1ST shift: 7:00AM – 3:30pm, with the ability to work overtime if needed. Schedule may change per company needs. Shift may change due to training needs.
