Job Overview:
The R-cold Machine Operator, you will play an important role in producing laminated foam panel products used in cold storage and refrigeration construction. You will operate and oversee the laminating panel machine, ensuring it runs efficiently and safely, producing high‐quality panels that meet construction and insulation specifications.
Responsibilities:
Set up, monitor and operate the laminated panel machine, including loading foam panels, setting machine controls, overseeing multiple passes, and stacking finished panels for construction use.
Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, measurements, and safety documentation.
Work as part of a team of machine operators, each with a dedicated helper; ensure smooth operation, minimal downtime and adherence to production schedules.
Use precise measurement skills to verify panel dimensions, thickness, and construction quality.
Monitor machine performance, make adjustments to controls, resolve minor issues or escalate when necessary to maintenance.
Maintain strict safety standards: wear steel‐toe boots, use safety glasses and ear plugs (provided as needed), follow lock‐out/tag‐out procedures and all plant safety guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of work area, assist with housekeeping of machine zone, remove scrap, and support continuous improvement efforts.
Communicate clearly with production lead, maintenance, and quality teams regarding material issues, machine performance, and shift hand‐offs.
Assist in training helpers and new operators, fostering a collaborative environment and sharing best practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily standing, walking and working near large production equipment.
Basic math and measurement skills; ability to use calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
Prior experience in machine operation, manufacturing, or industrial production preferred.
Load/unload foam panels and materials (may involve moderate lifting).
Work in a shift environment with early start (5 AM) and potential for overtime.
Must adhere strictly to safety protocols due to heavy equipment, moving parts and insulation/foam materials.
