Primary Function:
A metal straightener is responsible for inspecting parts, and using variety of techniques to straighten the parts according to their specifications. This process will require the use of Low to High Tonnage Hydraulic Presses, Arbor Hand Operated Presses, and other tools.
1. Initial assessment of job at hand.
2. Communication with Customers / Supervisor.
3. Receive Job.
4. Preliminary dimensional inspection.
5. Creation of a straightening procedure.
6. Straighten parts.
7. Final dimensional inspection.
8. Proper documentation of work performed.
9. Prepare shipping documents
10. Package job for customer pick-up
Major Responsibilities:
· Must have experience using inspection tools to check and record straightness as received from customers. Inspect curves and angles of parts, using straight edges, protractors, dial indicators, micrometers, and height gauges.
· Determine correct equipment to be used for straightening – H-Frame, C-Frame, Arbor Press, Jack, Hydraulic versus Manual.
· Operates power press equipped with pressure blocks or dies to straighten warped or bent metal objects, such as, cylinder rod, plate, bar, precision part, weldment, mold, or die
· Follow all departmental safety procedures and guidelines.
· Maintain area in a clean and orderly manner.
· Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
· Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder eligible to work in USA.
· Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language
· Must be able to use micrometer, verniers caliper, dial indicator, height gauges
· May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
· Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification
· Must be able to wear protective safety equipment as required.
· Preferred Experience: Minimum 5+ years relevant experience.
This position requires the following physical and mental demands consisting of, but not limited to the following:
· Ability to stand in one area for extended time, bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
· Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
· Exposure to dust, dirt, heat, noise, and vibration.
· Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management
· Willing to get cross trained in other departments.
