Waterproofer (Carpentry)

Mason Reconstruction is hiring a Waterproofer to join our team for multifamily renovation projects. This position is perfect for someone ready to work hard, learn, and grow within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and application of various waterproofing treatment in accordance with established procedures and practices while working with a range of waterproofing chemicals and coating products.

Perform Leak Investigations, Water testing, and repairs for water infiltration.

Perform integrity testing and troubleshooting testing to identify any breeches or defects in the project’s existing waterproofing membrane/coatings.

Install caulk into joints using a bulk caulk gun, pulling product out of buckets, using ‘sausage’ tubes, or standard tubes.

Inspect joints to make sure they are sound, and all joint filler material has been removed, and that joint size is acceptable.

Joints requiring it will be packed with backer rod to ensure proper joint depth, eliminate three side adhesion, and provide a sound backing to tool against.

If required, joint primer is applied using a spatula type knife of proper size, smoothing sealant to match masonry mortar joints.

When using self-leveling products, use compatible material to ‘dam’ ends, penetrations, and holes, so that the material remains in the joint.

Mix material with a drill & mixing paddle according to manufacturer’s directions.

Access to joints may require use of boom lifts, scissor lifts, swing stage, scaffolds, ladders, boswain’s chair (sky genie), or bucket trucks to reach great heights inside and outside of buildings under construction.

Must be able to operate a Forklift if needed.

Clean tools using toluene or xylene type products. Specific care and precautions are to be taken when working with these solvent type materials.

Assist in coordinating materials and tools for waterproofing tasks.

May be required to perform work such as light framing, general installations, site setup, etc.

Communicate with Foreman/Superintendent on daily job site activities, ensuring schedule and timelines are met.

Ensure work meets company and client expectations, with a focus on environmental regulations, compliance with local building codes, quality, and durability.

Qualifications:

6-months experience in waterproofing and/or carpentry is a plus, but not required

Basic trade tools (hammer, screwdriver set, tape measure, wrench set, utility knife, wire cutters, level, pliers, leather gloves and safety glasses)

Physically able to lift heavy objects, stand, and perform manual tasks for extended periods

Ability to complete assigned tasks on time and with a high level of efficiency

Have a positive attitude and capable of taking directions to learn trade skills

Strong work ethic, reliable, and works well in a team environment

CA driver’s license with a clean record, and reliable transportation to job sites

Must pass a Drug Screen
