Rancho Cucamonga-based law firm, specializing in Family law, is seeking an experienced paralegal to provide a range of legal support and administrative job duties for attorneys.
Primary Job Duties
Prepare and serve discovery requests, including but not necessarily limited to subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for admissions, and demands for production.
Prepare and serve client’s verified responses to discovery requests to the opposing party/opposing counsel.
Conduct “meet and confer” communications with opposing counsel/party in regards
Prepare and file proofs of services.
Prepare and file documents including but not necessarily limited to Requests for Orders (including Ex Parte requests), Petitions, Responses to Petitions, reports, Notice of Lodgments, and declarations.
Prepare and disseminate to internal legal team documents including but not necessarily limited to reports, memos, and status updates regarding cases.
Keep both the clients and their internal legal team informed regarding the status of the respective cases.
Update and maintain cloud-based case management system including but not necessarily limited to call logs, notes, billing, and tasks.
Organize, track, build, and maintain case files, and records both digitally and in paper form.
Transcribe dictation as requested.
Review verified responses and objections to discovery received from opposing counsel/party in a timely manner, preparing spreadsheets, memos, and “meet and confer” letters as required.
Assist attorneys with hearing/trial preparation (i.e. preparation of exhibits, witness lists, status reports, etc.) and prepare and serve witness subpoenas.
Conduct legal research as requested.
Conduct public records checks as directed.
Perform miscellaneous job duties related to the position.
Education and Experience
High school diploma required
MUST have 2+ years of Family Law, Civil, or Discovery paralegal experience
College Degree or Certificate Program in Paralegal Studies and 2+ years of experience working in a fast-paced environment in the legal field
Thorough knowledge of legal principle and practices
Ability to proficiently research legal information
Must possess critical thinking skills, planning, and organizing skills
Strong communication skills including keeping legal team informed on developments and follow-through/follow-up for issues that arise.
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Proficient computer knowledge/skills
Ability to handle multiple job duties effectively and efficiently
Individual must be reliable, dependable, with a positive, professional attitude and demeanor
Spanish speaking is a plus
