Job description
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) spend majority of their time training STARS in the community focusing on activities in the areas of community integration, life skills, and vocational training and the other time documenting all the great work they have completed for the day.
Responsibilities
Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives, including communication skills, mobility, money management, communication, and public transportation
Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment
Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering
Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills
Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports
Qualifications
· High School diploma or GED
· Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental
Disabilities- Preferred but willing to train the right individual.
· Must be able to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate flexibility and desire to learn new skills and improve professional qualifications, and travel independently in rural/remote locations.
· Current CPR and First Aid training required.
· Ability to pass DOJ fingerprint clearance (Live Scan)
· Ability to pass pre employment physical to include TB test and Drug screening
· Must have a clear driving record, valid CA driver’s license, and 2 years driving experience, safe reliable transportation, and proof of current vehicle registration and auto insurance.
