Safety Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and facilities within a workplace to ensure compliance with safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, and implementing preventative measures to protect employees by performing regular safety checks, conducting equipment maintenance, and providing training on proper safety procedures; often collaborating with management to develop and enforce safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Inspections:
Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, machinery, work areas, and facilities to identify potential hazards like electrical issues, faulty equipment, or unsafe working conditions.
Monitor compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Document inspection findings and report any safety concerns to management.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on safety equipment like fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and personal protective equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Inspect and maintain safety devices on machinery, such as guards and interlocks.
Conduct routine checks on emergency exits, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems.
Corrective Actions:
Address identified safety issues promptly by repairing faulty equipment, fixing hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule necessary repairs.
Follow up on corrective actions to ensure issues are resolved effectively.
Training and Education:
Deliver safety training programs to employees on topics like hazard identification, proper use of safety equipment, and emergency response procedures.
Conduct safety awareness sessions and refreshers to reinforce safety practices.
Incident Investigation:
Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
Document incident details and recommend preventative measures.
Prepare reports for management on safety performance and compliance.
Required Skills:
